Dear Lactnetters,
I posted about a mom last week who has elevated blood pressure. She is
planning to switch to an ACE inhibitor drug from Aldomet. Her ped and Ob/Gyn
said try it and see if it helps. It was 180/120 the last few times she took
a reading.
Here nephrologist said the ACE inhibitor is fine, but is encouraging her
to wean. He feels the high blood pressure is related to her lactating. She
has had elevated pressure as she has fed all 3 of her babies. No history of
toxemia/pre-clampsia.
How do you think her blood pressure is affected? Blood volumne?
Hormones? Three kids under 5?

Thanks,
Jan Ellen Brown IBCLC
