Today we had a ceremony honoring 15 women on the WIC  program.
From the various clinics throughout Allegheny County, one mom-having nursed
the
longest time(exclusively)- from each clinic was invited. She was given a
certificate,
various "freebies", such as Pirate baseball tickets....and we had a nice
luncheon as
well. They also had a family picture taken. It was a great day and it was
covered(ever so briefly) on the local news.

Our bulletin board is "what kids think about breastfeeding" and we had those
big
brothers and sisters draw and comment on "why is bf'ing good".......it's
adorable, my favorite being this quote: from a 4 year old "Jesus made it,
that's why"

During the Sat. morning news, one station here often has a "ask the lawyer,
doctor,
financial planner, etc." with a group of professionals manning the phones.
Well, last
Sat. was "Ask the LC' ......and we had some postitive interviews as well.

Next week we are doing our 3rd annual award for Breastfeeding Friendly
Workplace.......the Health Dept advertises for nominations and also through
our Helpline......

All of this and more through the County Breastfeeding Promotion Steering
Committeee.....a group of professionals who deserve the credit and also the
WIC BF'ing Program Administrator.
