I would love to know what you experts think about this interesting case.
Mom breastfed (first child) for 10 months without problems and then
developed a severe rash, hives, swelling and itching all over her body
(along with sob). They've run tests and ruled out auto-immune, allergy
reaction and the only thing that has come up is that she is low on IgG. She
thinks (she is a nurse) that perhaps the baby has drained her of the IgG
during breastfeeding and that may be why she is low. They are re-immunizing
her and she is taking dexaphene (an antidepressant that has anticholinergic
properties). They will retest her in a few months to see if she responded
to the immunizations. If she does not, the next step will be an IgG
infusion. She had to wean her baby when first she went on steroids (which
broker her heart), leaving her to wonder if she will experience this same
thing when she has another baby. Any thoughts?

Also, I will be sitting for the consultant exam in July and appreciate any
advise.
Thanks,
