 I am glad that you are there advocating for these family. 



 I don't think there is one "right" answer... You might talk to the family when baby is taken away about expressing some for the baby... hand expressing some colostrum will give mom tactile stimulation as well as provide some colostrum... there is always more there should the baby come back sooner than later and the expressed colostrum can be give by spoon or on mom or dads finger. 



 If mom is too overwhelmed than better to wait a bit.
