Late Onset Infant Group B Streptococcus Infection Associated with Maternal Consumption of Capsules Containing Dehydrated Placenta - Oregon 2016.
Baby was treated at birth for early onset GBS. 5 days later the baby was admitted with GBS, Then after 11 days on PCN , baby went home and 5 days later was adm again for GBS. The capsules contained GBS. Her milk sample did not show GBS, but my question is how else did the baby get contaminated the 2nd time? They suggest that mom's use of placenta capsules may have elevated her bacterial count via intestinal and skin colonization.Question about the milk sample....Was it because sample was one isolated time and maybe had GBS more closely to pill intake???
