Thanks for the supportive posts on and off Lactnet.  At a nearby hospital we 
do have a neonatologist who absolutely insists that his tiny prems receive 
only breastmilk.  They get a drop or two of colostrum in their mouths right 
after birth even if they will be nil per mouth for a while.  But, "our" 
hospital believes in the mother's choice - and it's often an uninformed 
choice - so I was surprised that the paediatrician supported me.  Today, 
mother and father were both present and mother seems proud of her 
breastfeeding and expressing - just maybe she will continue a while when 
baby is discharged ......
