Pat Gima says,

<< I have a client whose 10-year-old daughter has a firm lump under the
nipple/areola on one breast. The lump is between a quarter and half dollar
size and is graspable and "hard."

Pat, it sounds like a breast bud to me which some girls have and some don't.
I don't remember Jill having them at all, and was a bit non-plussed when
Torrey developed these small hard bumps under her nipple/areola -- just one
side at first. It was about pea or lima bean sized and very firm. She was
about 10 at the time, and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it
was. Then she got one on the other side, and then, about a year later, began
to develop breasts.....
