Rather than count my blessings, I would be VERY CONCERNED about a 2 week old
sleeping for this long. This is not normal, and it could be very dangerous.
Is this baby sleeping with an adult? If not, this might be a good
suggestion -- get an adult there during the night to help regulate the
baby's sleep stages and respiration and heart rate. Otherwise, there is an
increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. See the chapter by McKenna
and Bernshaw in Breastfeeding: Biocultural Perspectives. Much as new
parents enjoy the opportunity to sleep uninterrupted, this is not normal,
and could be a sign of something wrong with the baby -- either brain
abnormalities or perhaps even heart abnormalities. I would check it out,
not just sit back and enjoy the peaceful nights.
