My question for the eveningis: have any of you thought about the effect of
olestra on the fat content of breastmilk? I searched the archives and the
only thing it says is that the molecules are too large to pass through the gut
and get into the milk itself, but if it interferes witht the absorption of
fats by the mother isn't there a danger that the composition of the milk might
be affected? Have any of you noticed changes is weight gain of infants of
mothers consuming large amounts of olean? I'm asking this not only out of my
own curiosity but for my nurse practitioner/midwife who I go to for gyn and
she was also a LLL for many years and also IBCLC but hasn't kept it up. She's
not on Lactnet.
