David Louder asked about the cost savings per patient associated with
breastfeeding.  Miriam Labbok, MD has done quite a bit of research in this area.
ILCA has a tape available of her speech on this topic at their July 1995
conference.  Her cost analysis is pretty thorough and convincing;  the cost
savings is tremendous even when she factors in 12 weeks of paid maternity leave
and LC consults for every new mom.  If only the HMOs and government would pay
attention to this info...

Kathleen, I really like Karen and Gale Pryor's book "Nursing Your Baby".
