Pam and Nikki,
 
    To be honest, counselor or consultant really  doesn't matter.  When you 
have a layman that could  just as easily call us "Lactose Consultants"--the 
hard reality is that  counselor and consultant mean the same thing to a parent.  
I just spoke to  a clinical nurse manager of a large maternity ward who did 
not know that there  are non-RN IBCLC and CLCs out there.  She also had NO idea 
that there  was a major difference between the IBCLC or CLC credential 
requirements.   We have a lot of teaching to do.
