Our docs routinely vaccinate women with low rubella titers
immediately after birth. We know that live rubella virus is
excreted into breastmilk, and that about 25% of babies seroconvert
via breastfeeding (according to Lawrence). Do we need to worry about
our micro-premies or severely immuno-compromised babes receiving
breastmilk of vaccinated moms? Both Lawrence and Hale point out that
few babies have shown any infectious symptoms at all, but I assume
they are talking mainly about full-term healthy babes. Does
anybody have experience with compromised babies??
TIA
