Recived some q about Prevnar, so here is a description.  I'm not sure if it 
is used outside US.  Pat in SNJ
Prevnar is a new vaccine to prevent invasive strep pneumo disease. 7 valent 
as opposed to the 23 valent in Pneumovax, which can't be given before age 2.
It is given at 2,4,6 and 12 mo.  There as been a significant statistical 
reduction in ear infections from  these germs since it was started about 2-3 
years ago.  We really noticed  it in practice this past winter. (I guess 
because more of the toddlers had the benefits of a full series.)
