No words of wisdom here, so hit the delete key now if you don't want to
hear dribble. But I'd just like to observe that questions about weaning
often come down to: (1) what is considered 'normal' in society and (2) what
people say to intimidate others and (3) how we respond.

I spent nearly two decades of having people ask me, on a regular basis,
"When are you going to get married?" After marrying fairly late in life but
still looking young, I had to hear, "When are you going to get pregnant?"
Same deal; someone going against the societal norm.

Until breastfeeding and/or late weaning becomes the cultural norm, people
will continue to make dumb comments, but frankly, there's relatively little
we can do about the societal norm or sometimes well-intentioned but often
invasive questions. How we *respond* to these comments is really the key to
shutting people up, pronto.

("I'm getting married after I go in the convent....")
