Diane Wiessinger, you do ask tough questions.

If I were pregnant (gasp - at this age??) and HIV positive, and not
desperately sick - I'd breastfeed. My body would have had a chance to make
antibodies to the virus which my baby might get anyway. I would also be sure
to eat an excellent diet. I'm convinced that someday it will be discovered
that pure breastmilk, from birth, from a mom with existing AIDS will be
protective to the baby. I'm also of the belief that human milk would be
helpful if not even curative for those with AIDS now, and wish this research
would be done honestly. I believe this would give my baby the best chance to
live long and prosper, based on all the evidence to date.  Again, this is
MHO.
