Pam: The drug parlodel (bromocriptine) has not been removed from the
market in the US, because it has other clinical uses, particularly in
Parkinson's Diseases. However, the indication for suppression of
lactation has been removed. A physician may still prescribe it for any
use he/she wants to, but if the woman for whom the drug was prescribed
for suppression of lactation developed a serious complication such as a
stroke, the doctor would probably be liable for having prescribed it for
an indication which is no longer supported by the FDA. Alicia.
