i have seen on other websites comments from lactation people that "it is okay
to nurse with the ring or barbell (used to replace the ring) in place." all i
can say is, go put an earring in your mouth and try to suck on something.
here the piercing story has been around for a while, and My Friend the
Midwife has had several moms with pierced nipples, and she advises them all
to remove the rings. none have had a problem other than the occasional milk
squirting out. however, i can't imagine that breastfeeding could proceed
normally with a ring in place. aren't we worried about pacifiers and
artificial nipples ruining breastfeeding? and isn't the palate pretty
maleable in babies?
