Recently in a local Bay Area fabric store, a woman for some reason,
started talking to me about her birth and her son. Usually it's me
who starts these sorts of conversations, and I usually lead into them,
but I think this was a high needs woman who had a lot to learn about
normal social interactions. She told me that she went into cardiac
arrest during labor, was revived, gave birth and put on medication
that precluded breastfeeding. Her son was formula intolerant so she
had to use banked human milk, and Blue Sheild wouldn't cover it.
OTOH, she stated, they would cover NICU for a week out of every month
so the milk was paid for, as long as she admitted him to the ICU for
something.

Was she feeding me a line? How much does it cost to feed banked milk
for a year? She seemed to have way overstated the cost so I began to
get suspicious. Was she a flake? And if so, why do people do that?
Do banks preclude women who are tatooed or have recently had a
body/ear pierce?
