I am doing some research on grandmothers breastfeeding and I have two
questions:

1. I heard it said once that the thing that distinguishes humans from
our
mammal cousins is that we understand and care about the welfare of our
grandchildren. Does anyone know the source of that quote?

2. I am also looking for references on milk kinship and grandmothers,
cultures in which grandmothers nurse their grandchildren as part of
birth/adoption/welcome to the family rituals. This nursing may be
symbolic
or more substantial. Is anyone familiar with any research on this topic?

Thanks,

Naomi Bar-Yam
