Jay, baby aspirin is sometimes used for decreasing coagulation of the blood
and/or to prevent clotting problems *BUT* this is not in the LC scope of
practice. This patient is on heparin intravenously, she most likely will go
home on coumadin orally. The balance between too "thick" and too "thin" is
delicate. Once on coumadine (which is fine with bfing btw) she will need
frequent blood tests until the correct balance is found. Even her diet can
have an effect on that balance. Her doctor may want her to take baby
aspirin but then again, s/he may not.
