Hi - After enjoying months of lurking and reading Lactnet, I have a question that
urgently needs an answer. I am a Lactation Educator (UCLA program) at a hospital based
clinic. Our Lactation Consultant is seeking information for a breastfeeding mom who
suffers with ulcerative colitis. Her GI doctor has prescribed Cortenema (cortisone
enema) for her, and the pediatrician says it is incompatible with BF. GI doctor
says he thinks it would be okay. What do your sources say?
Ulcerative colitis is miserable, yet this mom is dedicated to BF her baby.
Another question - the new allergy medicine Claritin is not in any of our
references about BF and drugs. What are your thoughts on that one?
