Kathy Leeper asked for information on sources for using elemental formula
as a first line supplement. Kathy you will find the information you needing
in Zieger, R. "Prevention of food allergy in infants and children"
Immunology and Allergy Clinics of north America Vol. 19. Number 3. August
1999. Part of the article says
"it may be prudent to observe the
European Society Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology advice regarding
allergy
prevention; they recommend use of extensively hydrolyzed hypoallergenic PH
as the
preferred choice of infant feeding either as a substitute for or supplement
to
breastfeeding when breastfeeding is not elected or terminated early in
high-risk infants.
Similar conclusions have been reached by others"

The reference for the European Society of Pediatric Allergy and Clinical
Immunology advice is
Hide D. Euro J Clin Nutr --1995 Sep: 49 Suppl 1: S100-6
