The research has been done.  I am in Coober Pety, Australia at the moment so
do not have time to find the references, but there are at least 2-3 studies I
remember seeing in the pediatric literature in the last 10 years showing no
difference in colic, constipation, etc. with infant or maternal Fe
supplementation.
