the thread that ties RPS and lymphatic breast massage together is:
they both effectively mobilize edema.  When lactogenesis II occurs in an edematous breast, the milk cannot flow effectively b/c it is being "locked in" by edema.  When you relieve the edema, the milk can get out!  

I think ladies with really grossly edematous breasts can lose part or all of their milk supply if the edema is not alleviated, because of unrelieved pressure on the ducts and alveoli, the breast begins to involute before the milk ever flows.
