Hoping for some help.....

A mom was on maximum amounts of Mag 2 1/2 days before birth for the purpose of
stopping her labor. She delivered @ 29 weeks and has been double pumping
every
2 hours throughout the day and night and can only get drops.

She is on no medication, her blood pressure is normal and has always been
normal, she has no history of any medical problems. Baby is in our NICU with
bowel problems and Mom desperately would like her baby to get her milk. She
is now 19 days post partum.

We have done blood studies because there was a thought that perhaps she had
more male hormones than female hormones. She has tried mother's milk tea,
changing the way she pumps, is doing Kangaroo care, massages her breasts, and
does breast compression. She did not have any eating disorders previously.
We are checking her thyroid function today. She was started on Reglan.

She wonders if being on max levels of Mag could have done this. Cannot
understand why there are no breast changes and only getting drops with the
pump. She began pumping regularly the day of birth.

Anyone out there with any suggestions.

thanks so much,
