I did this when I had a cracked nipple that was causing very intense vasospasm and pain. I put some polysporin (similar to triple ointment I think) on and covered with a square of plastic wrap. The plastic wrap keeps the area protected, warm and doesn't let the raw area dry out and form a scab that will be pulled off at the next feeding and slow wound healing. This with some dry heat after feedings fixed things up very quickly. Its the same idea as putting some polysporin on a scrape and covering with a bandage.

It doesn't sound like a good idea to me but I am open to hearing more information about this if anyone has any expereince using this for healing sore, cracked nipples.
