I have worn contact lenses through pregnancy and years of breastfeeding.
As another poster mentioned hard lenses are more of a challenge due to the
need to have a good fit with the shape of the eye.

Even if it is a given that lactation can affect the prescription, or fit,
that doesn't mean that the mother is not entitled to a prescrition that
suits her current needs. Why should the optomitrist care if things change
when she weans? He likely does not realize that breastfeeding can last for
years. I liken it to needing to be refitted for a diaphragm if you loose
weight. He actually talking himself out of more business.

I once asked an opthamologist, before I booked an appointment for myself,
if he would forgo the eye drops for an exam because I was breastfeeding and
prefered not to have them. He told me to come back when I was done. I
told him that wouldn't be for a few years. He rolled his eyes and walked
away. Needless to say I didn't go back.
