I found my mind in "free wheeling" at one point in thinking about
the subject. Here's the track-is there any merit in it?
1 - There is a theoretical concern with the use of Vitamin E on
tender nipples that in time baby might take in "too much" Vit E if
large amounts are used on the breast and remain there by the time
baby is ready to nurse again..
2 - Aren't Vitamins D and E both fat soluble rather than water
soluble?
3 - How much is the oil a factor in healing as opposed to the Vit E
itself?
4 - If babies really do need Vit D supplementation, could a small
amount of liquid Vit D be applied to mom's nipple(s) and it be given
to the baby via that route? In addition, might it actually help in
healing (along with correcting the cause of the tenderness in the
first place)?

Of course, the amount baby would get via this route would be hard to
standardize.
Just some wild musings I thought I'd share.

Winnie
