I have a client who is tandem-nursing her 3 yr old and her 6 week old infant.
The 3 yr-old has just been diagnosed w/ leukemia (85% recovery rate).
Tomorrow at a time yet to be determined, the child must undergo surgery to
have an in-dwelling device placed. Mom wants to know when she must last bf
her daughter. I gave her info from my resources, which stated bf on "emptied"
breast only after 3-4 hours. She can easily achieve this by nursing the baby
first. Is this the best advice for her?
Thank you,
Jennifer Tow, IBCLC, CT, USA
