Dr. Newman spoke in Baltimore last year.  I don't have my notes in front of
me right now, but as I recall the glucose water was preferred  to prevent
allergies by not introducing foreign proteins from formula.  What would be
the harm for 24-48 hours if it helped entice the baby to take the breast?

On another note - as anyone every heard of  THE CONTENTED BABY BOOK?  This
is a new one to me, but had a mom yesterday who is only feeding 6 times a
day because she is following this book.  Unfortunately her baby is only two
weeks old, and was 5#15oz. at birth.  Baby has gained weight so far, but
mom had been supplementing after every breastfeeding - probably why baby
was content for 3-4hours!
