Dear Lactnet Friends:

For all the adverse criticism of Dr. Colson, there is much to gain from her
work.

Examples: There are many more infant feeding reflexes than rooting. Babies
can breastfeed in drowsy and sleep states. Laid-back positioning helps
newborns learn to feed.

While some of us may have known these things for years, Dr. Colson has
brought enormous attention to focus on the baby.

I use her DVD and concepts for showing healthcare professionals how the
initiation of breastfeeding can be easy. She's come along at a good time;
even though there isn't much new, she's refreshed and reminded us, and
taught the new generation.

warmly,
