that the exam is over.  Sample questions made up in 1985 by Bocar, Driscoll,Minchin,Smith.Walker among the first exam question writers 

The following  questions are based on unusual, but factual cases presented to lactation consultants:  There will be 6 questions on this exam.

1. A distressed mother requests your services.  She has been informed by her surgeon that he must wean 48 hours before her implantation of a cardiac pacemaker wire because the milk in her breasts will short-circuit the pacemaker.  Which of the following facts is applicable to this case?
a. there is no need to wean.  She should, however, be careful when suckling a child with dental fillings.
b. Weaning 24 hours beforehand is adequate provided she exercises for 15 minutes on a jogging trampoline to set the milk to custard.
c. the surgeon will need to wear rubber shoes at all times during surgery.
d. the father will need to wear a rubber unless sleeping on a rubber mattress.
