My first post to Lacnet. (I am not sure what a "html " key is, I hope it is
off) I have been gaining useful knowledge for over two years now (lurking).
I am a hospital based Lactation Consultant. Also, I have a small pump rental
station at home. I have two beautiful daughters. One weaned and in college
now. The other 3 years old and continuing her "mommie milk" sessions.

I have tried the search but it is down at this time and need some information.

My question is: I have seen a mom that her 8 day old infant has impetigo on
the face (nose/mouth). It appears mom has it on both nipples. (Cultures
pending). Infant is being treated with Bactroban after CBC results( a thank
you to Dr. Hale's book) and mom is to be treated with Erythromycin (also AAP
approved). From a healing and infection point of view, is it safe for
breastfeeding to be uninterrupted? Mom's OB says yes, one of my colleagues
says no. Haven't heard from the Pediatrician as of yet. Thank you.
