Hi everyone
Just had a call from the mother of a nursing 4 year old. For the last
while (at least a year or so) the mother has been drinking many
cups of coffee every day. The 4 year old nurses when mom is home a few times
daily (working mom) and manages not to nurse on alternate weekends when
she is with her father (since Aug.). Recently the mom has tried to
significantly cut back on her caffeine intake.
Yesterday she had none at all. Last night was one of the worst nights
that they have had in years with the 4 year
old not able to sleep and asking to nurse very frequently. Change in
dreams also.
Question- Could these symptoms in a child be due to caffeine withdrawl?
If so what can be done about it. If not what are other possible causes
for behaviors.
TIA
