Hi, folks! I've been nomail for quite a while getting ready for the
USDA/Best Start Breastfeeding Promotion Campaign beginning in August--there
has just been no time to peruse LACTNET. I have a question for you learned
ones out there.

I talked with a pregnant mother at Clinic Day in Picayune last week. She has
epilepsy and stated that she can't breastfeed because her neurologist said
"it would be best not to breastfeed." She said that he did not give a
specific reason, just that it would be best not to. I have info from Ruth
Lawrence and from the Breastfeeding Answer Book that I can share with the
mother. However, Lawrence info does not provide a reading level that the
mother can easily relate to and the BAB does not provide reasons why
breastfeeding would be beneficial. Do any of you have any information that
might be easier for a mother to read; something that says that "it would be
best TO breastfeed"? I'm not sure whether the mother really wants to
breastfeed; I'd just like to be able to give her information that will help
her to make an informed decision. She did say that she would like some
written information. Please email me privately as I am still nomail. Thanks
in advance for your help. You can email me here at the office at:

or at home at: [log in to unmask] (I'm online at home now!)

Keitha in Mississippi who can't wait for those Best Start commercials to hit
the airways! Watch for them--they're wonderful! :)
