I usually tell my clients to make sure their breasts are dry before applying
lanolin.  I tell them to allow their nipples to air dry before application;
I explain that Lanolin  is a moisture barrier.  I also stress the importance
of airing out the breasts whenever possible. (This coming from  a person who
walked around for 18 months with the flaps of her nursing bra open:) )
