Hi California Lactnetters,
I continue to be no mail for sometime now , but did want to pass this on to
all of you in hopes we can write more letters to enact this resolution:

California                              ACR 155
1.This measure which passed the Legislature in Oct ‘98, would encourage
California employers to support & encourage breastfeeding by ensuring
adequate facilities for breastfeeding & expressing milk.  Furthermore the
resolution encourages the Governor to lead by example & declare by
executive order, that all State employees shall be provided with adequate
facilities for breastfeeding or milk expression. 

2.This resolution  complements federal bill, HR1163(Maloney's bill)  by
raising public awareness & encouraging  private employers. HR1163 provides
the "carrot" in the form of  tax incentives for private employers to do so.

        
What is needed:
Our efforts must concentrate now on encouraging Governor Davis to sign an
executive order for the resolution to take effect.

Letters on letterhead from companies, coalitions, organizations are
especially effective, but personal letters are great too!!!!
We should point out that it would correspond nicely with World
breastfeeding week to sign the executive order soon!
