Jessica,

It is always hard to keep your mouth shut when people who are close to
you seem to reject the things that seem most important to you. My
step-daughter bottle-fed her two children (after TRYING to breastfeed).
The first was breastfed for about six hours, the second about a week. My
offers of help were rejected. I had to keep my mouth shut for more than
five years, as it was not just breastfeeding we appeared to disagree
about, but everything to do with parenting. That marriage ended. Now
she is in a new marriage, lives very close to us and constantly refers to
my knowledge about parenting and breastfeeding. Her sister-in-law
breastfed because she didn't want to let us down and Emma has said that
as soon as she has another baby she will phone me before she goes to the
hospital.

You have a lot of influence, especially on those who appear to reject
you. Hang in there. I is worth it.
