Someone was asking about the free breastfeeding classes at her hospital which were cut due to low attendance.   It has been my experience, in general and in specific to breastfeeding classes, that when something is free, people don't value it much.  Also, people sign up, but then not show up because it costs them nothing to not show up.  When there is a charge, even a small one, attendance increases.  I don't know if that is the only cause for low attendance, but it is possible that it is a factor.  Making the class cost $10 may actually increase enrollment.  It may be worth experimenting with.
