If the issue is getting MDs to conferences where they might learn something
about breastfeeding, why not send them to the Physciians' Seminar. I know.
I have heard all the compalints that it is too academic, not clinical
enough, too basic, not basic enough, etc.

But the point is, it IS co-sponsored by AAP and they get CMEs, and the
speakers are all/mostly MDs, and most of the rest who attend are MDs (with
a bunch of LCs), so for MDs who are afraid to show their ignorance to
non-MDs, they can go and feel a bit more comfortable.

Given what MDs are paid (compared to LCs), I am appalled that anyone would
grant them the opportunity to attend without payment when everyone else
must do so--and high rates at that.

Also, too many professionals figure that if it is free, it is not worth
anything (as in "you get what you pay for.") IF they believe that, make
them pay BIG TIME and then regret not having attended what MUST have been a
TERRIFIC program!! :-)
