Oh, Katherine, trust me when I say it was not lack of
words or understanding on any woman's part!  It was an
enormous cultural crevasse!  The mother understood the
irony of the situation completely but there was no way
to dissuade her husband.  The issue was beyond
lactation, beyond logic, perhaps beyond the scope of
Lactnet discussion.  The husband severed our contact.
