HIV can be transmitted to the baby via nursing. The chances of an infamt
being HIV positive from fetal to maternal transfer is sabout 1 out of 3. It
can be 1 out of 5 if Mom is being treated with AZT or other drugs. Not every
baby who is nursed will get HIV this way, but since this discease is 100%
fatal and is a terrible, lingering, way to have to exit this earth, this is
truly one instance where breastfeed is contra indicated.
