Sue- I can fax or mail a letter on MediCal reimbursement for Breastfeeding
promotion...I am trying to monitor their success and failure in reimbursing
for services so we can try to improve their policy if we need to. The
materials and ordering information we are compiling is as a resource for
MediCal Managed Care plans-to prod them along in aquiring appropriate
breastfeeding promotion/education materials....we are still compiling this. I
would love samples of your materials and ordering information....send to
Suzanne Haydu, Nutrition Consultant, 714 P Street, Room 760, Sacramento, Ca

Dear Suzanne,
Saw your post on Lactnet. I am an IBCLC in Fresno/Clovis. I wanted to
put in a word for the Kiwanis/LLL Breastfeeding Poster and handout,
which I developed. Have you seen it? The poster is in cartoon format,
and has been translated into Spanish. Samples are available from me,
and bulk copies from LLLI.

Exactly how are breastfeeding materials utilized in the Medicaid
program? Are Lactation consultants involved? I never hear anything
about mothers getting breastfeeding education or assistance from
Medicaid. Maybe I'm "out of the loop?" (that's what my kids tell me,
anyway...) Since I am always looking for teaching as well as consulting
opportunities, I am naturally curious. Please tell me more! Thanks- Sue
Jacoby, IBCLC
