Julie, there are a number of posts on oversupply in the archives if you
would like to check that. In the meantime, one way is to completely empty
(nurse/pump/express) the breasts to absolutely as empty as possible. Then,
start over. For many women, this works.

It could be a symptom of hyperthyroidism, which is less daunting than a
pituitary tumor. And, many postpartum cases of hyperthyroidism are
temporary, so it could swing to the other direction in a matter of time.

Best wishes,
Sam

I have a client with a 4 week old infant who can pump out 5 ounces in 5
minutes and she is so frustrated with this over supply that she is ready to
quit. I don't think she will but she is getting so fed up and no one has
been able to give her a solution that has worked. I suggested block
feedings, with some other suggestions. I was reading that this over abundant
supply can be caused by a pituitary tumor and wanted to know if there were
other medical reasons we may need to look at. It is her third baby. She
mentioned that she has this abundant supply until she stops nursing at a
year.
Any thoughts would be great because I would like to see her succeed with
feeling comfortably. She is on her last nerve and wants a magic solution
pretty quickly. Thanks.
