This is a real sore spot for me. I never wanted to choose between church and
my children, as I thought it a faulty dilemma. Tried quite a few churches
(we moved a lot) without much success - best was "cry rooms" with glass
windows and sound isolation. The last straw was being invited to teach
children's bible classes then being told my nursing toddler couldn't ride in
the backpack while I taught. I quit going altogether and have never been back
except as a guest at weddings. Organized religion ought to actively support
(dare I say "preach?") public and extended breastfeeding. How do they think
baby Jesus was fed? And for how long? And where? And Mary probably didn't
have an epidural, either.
