<<A mom stated that the airlines are "requesting us to drink the formula
that is in the bottle." In her words: "That stuff tastes awful". And she is
giving this to her baby?>>

My husband & I were wondering whether mothers who formula feed and have to
taste the formula before getting on the plane realised prior to that moment
just how bad the stuff tastes. I've never tasted formula but I did day-care
for a mom of an infant and she ended up supplementing b/c she couldn't pump
enough for the work-day and it sure smelled nasty and the baby's spit-up
smelled horrible and stained my clothes if she got me. We wondered how many
parents would be feeling differently about giving formula to their babies
after realising how awful it tastes and whether any of them would be calling
an LC or LLL asking if it's too late to lactate so they can breastfeed
instead. It would be nice if some of those moms chose to breastfeed their
next baby if it doesn't occur to them to try to (re)lactate for the current
one.
