I searched the archives and couldn't find any thoughts, so am asking for your help, with the mother's permission.

Mom has 19 mo old boy who nurses three times/day. In December he developed a diaper rash that was even bleeding though he has had episodes of diaper rash intermittently. Mom has been working with her pediatrician who wants her to keep a food diary which she is working on, but this week she realized she started her period on Tuesday and by Wed baby's bottom was on the verge of a rash again. She asked me if the rash could be hormone related or yeast as she does indulge her sweet tooth when experiencing PMS. (I believe they did have some thrush when this baby was 3 or 4 months old.)

Any help appreciated. This mom is, of course, not wanting to contribute to her baby's discomfort.

Thanks,
Susan Rook, PT, CCE
