I just happened to hear a talk-show pediatrician on the radio last Sunday
who was asked exactly this question! (about replacing pumped breastmilk with
soy milk in a cow's-milk allergic baby) The mother's concern specifically
was that the soy milk is lower in fat than whole cow's milk and she worried
that this might make it not suitable for her baby. The pediatrician said it
would be fine as long as the baby was getting some fat from other food
sources.
