Hi Jessica,
This is not all that unusual especially in women who are pumping.
Most of these cases seem to clear up fairly quickly.
Baby can have the milk but it may lead to upset tummy and have awareness that baby may spit up blood or have
positive blood in stools (it will be maternal blood).
I would recommend as much skin to skin as possible and use of RPS before attempting latch or before pumping.
Do the full several minutes of RPS and in the reclining position so gravity can help.
I would recommend mother pump on as low a setting as possible (always doing RPS first), but to keep up with regular
milk expression. I would assess the type of pump and flange size. Hand expression can certainly be used
instead of a pump..
I agree with trying a nipple shield, and feeding the baby.
