Dee, I learned a lot from your post to Cheryl with suggestions on how to
help her 18 month old re-learn how to suck correctly.

When you mentioned the TMJ, it reminded me that a dentist friend once
told me that the TMJ is the only joint in the body which can articulate
in two different ways. I don't know whether that piece of trivia has any
bearing on this situation, but I have often wondered if it was relevant
to newborns who have had a rough birth, then clench and chomp instead of
opening at a wide angle to latch. Perhaps someone more familiar with
dentistry, cranio-sacral or chiropractic could explain more about the
TMJ.
